About the Project

Glengala Road Pocket Park

As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to the implementation of Council's Creating Better Parks Policy and Plan, a new Pocket Park is proposed at the intersection of Glengala Road and Gum Street.  The pocket park will provide a cool green space for the community in an area where there are not many local parks.  Council was successful in obtaining funding for the project from the Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP) and work to construct the pocket park is going to commence mid-2021.

As part of this project Council invited local school children to create a series of ceramic artworks that will installed in the park and we have engaged local artist Debbie Qadri who will assist with this process.

If you would like more information about the Glengala Pocket Park project itself please contact Council’s Urban Design Team on 9243 0000.

..............................................

The ceramic artwork by the children will be embedded into mosaic on concrete pavers  and other artworks will cover a lizard sculpture.

The theme for the artworks is community and belonging.

The stories behind the artworks will also be available on a document or website accessed by a QR code which can be scanned at the site and a soundscape for park visitors is also being created.
